IVP Designs These people are the force behind the shirt. A friend at IVP stopped to eat at George's cousin, Steve Martorano's famous restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Cafe Martorano-got talking with Steve about George and was inspired by what he heard. George teaches "Creative Writing" classes within the walls at Coleman Federal prison. George copes with the "caged" world by teaching, others caged with George cope by being taught.
Ahoodie These shirts are currently being featured on the Ahoodie website. They too just ran a contest with the "Coleman Creative Writing" T-shirt as a prize.
FREE GEORGE MARTORANO Read some of George's latest writings and letters - creative to say the least - why let this talent be "caged" any longer

Message: I served 12 years and 9 months. I was with George at USP Atlanta (in transit) for about a month---just before his first book was published. George is a very intelligent and talented person who, if given a second chance, is extremely unlikely to recidivate as the result of his many talents and strong support from family and friends outside of prison. I have been "free" since 9/27/00, except for time at a halfway house, house arrest and supervised release that will continue until February, 2006. If I can do it, George can too.

Message: The war on drugs has destroyed many lives, making the government's so-called war on drugs actually a war on The People. Personally, I believe that if society really desired a reduction in crime, they would vote for all drugs to be legalized. Think about it: no more drug cartels to push drugs on school children; no more underground black market shootings and killings; and no more robberies by addicts needing another fix. The real criminals would be out of business and honest citizens would have safer streets, probably mostly drug-free. Unfortunately, government propaganda has brainwashed the majority of citizens into thinking that the war on drugs is about drugs. It isn't. It's about money. Drug usage serves as Power for government. Prison is big business. The two go hand-in-hand. As the WOD continues, more citizens are imprisoned - prison industry is a booming industry and People are the commodity.
I hope George is released soon.

Message: The War on Drugs is not about stopping the flow of illegal drugs it is about incarceration of a nation. Anyone who believes the propaganda about the drug war is misinformed. George M. got a life sentence apparently due to the then newly-implemented RICO statutes. An $87 Million per year drug smuggling operation is a drop in the bucket to the dollars attached to the drug trade indulged in by the DEA.
Clearly George broke more than one law and that is probably the justification for the federal courts to uphold this sentence. In this country organized crime is reserved for those working within the federal government. George was undoubtedly getting in on the DEA territory as were others whom George refused to name.
The drug war is all about the domino effect. One person is caught and made to roll-over on 30 others (even if these 30 others have nothing to do with drugs) so that prisons can be "stocked" with bodies. Not only is there big money to be made through incarceration but those people who are not incarcerated are forced to conform to ridiculous laws out of fear of ending up in prison themselves.
Tell me how this is any different than a fascist dictatorship. So now George can't peddle drugs on the streets because he's in prison. Now the DEA can have his territory free and clear and the taxpayers can foot the bill of ~$30K per year of incarceration costs. And there are actually allegedly intelligent Americans who don't see the bait-and-switch scam that is the war on drugs!
At least George pled guilty to his crimes; you think the DEA would? George is no more guilty than the DEA. Since the DEA is comprised of federal employees they are above the law that the federal government has bound ordinary citizens with.
Finally, if there's anyone out there reading this message who thinks the DEA is not the most egregious drug-smuggling operation in the world then you are not at all informed and your opinion is based on thinking what you have been told to think and not on the facts.

Motivate Melee This is a blogspot of a student of George's "Creative Witing" class. Sure shows what a great teacher George really is. Just another reason of the 1000's that George should not spend one more day "caged".
LETTERS NEEDED NOW We need letters supporting George's release. We are hopeful that Mr. Black will have George in the courts VERY soon. Letters addressed to the court supporting the release of George after 28 years of incarceration could and should weigh in heavily. I don't need 2-3 page letters... just a paragraph or two on the fact that "enough is enough."
